Birthday Highlights

One of the major cons of living here is the lack of family and close friends. Granted, we have made some new friends, but it's not quite the same when it comes to celebrating birthdays. Luckily this was only her first birthday and she won't remember how unexciting it was (although we did try). We went out to eat Mexican food (F.Y.I. it is impossible to find good Mexican food here), then we did a little grocery shopping , then we headed home for cake/ice cream and presents. Charlie and I did make the cake. It turned out really cute and Olivia liked it. And thanks to all who sent presents, she (and Allie and Claire) made out very well. For the last three days in a row, the UPS man came by our house bringing packages, so now, everyday, the girls ask if he's coming and "what's he gonna bring us?" Allison knows him as the "guy who brings us dresses." Around the end of September we are going to re-celebrate Olivia's b-day; my parents and my sister and brother-in-law are planning on coming to see us, which we are really excited about, so we are planning another little birthday party for her then.

Cookie Monster cake (sorry for the sideways view, but you get the picture)

Rowdy party crowd

The only one of our girls who actually ate her birthday cake (and liked it). Check out her hair that's finally coming in!

Opening presents with a little help from her sisters (the birthday girl was a little too interested in eating the bows, so we had to send in reinforcements to open the gifts). Her Fall wardrobe is now nearly complete thanks to her grandmas and aunt Cheryl
