Sorry for the cheesy title, that song just came to mind.
This day truly lacked excitement, which may not be a bad thing. So I'll give the highlights (hold on to your seats):
Allie and Claire played dress-up. Allie says, "We're going to a party, Mom. They're having cake..." She cracks me up b/c she always gets excited about cake, but she doesn't really like it, maybe it's the icing.
We went to the park and had lunch and played. The park is next to a fire station and while we were there, the firemen went out on their truck. They waved at the girls which made them very excited. So then we played 50 questions about the fire station: Why do they ride on that truck? Who closes the garage when they leave the station? Are there girl ones in there? Do they sleep there? Where are their beds? Is there fire in there? Why are there pick-ups (personal vehicles) there? Do they have homes? Where are their homes? I could see the light come on in her head when she realized that firemen don't just live at the station, that they come there to work. I told her it was kind of like her daddy when he has to sleep at the hospital and that seemed to click with her.
Claire finally mastered pedalling, her tricycle that is. For so long her legs have been just a tad too short to reach the pedals all the way. But lately she's been doing better, and this afternoon she was riding around all over. It's funny to watch little kids when they are learning to steer. One of the girls had taken their shoes off and left them laying out. Claire was about to run into them with her tricycle, so rather than turning the wheel to go around the shoes, she stopped, got off and moved the shoes. Sometimes it's just easier to remove the hurdle...

There is no sleeping at the fire station. Ever.
